A Taunt

A Taunt
thrown out in the car on the way to school this morning was,

“Well, I’VE got OPPOSABLE thumbs, what do you think of THAT!?!”

Not much was thought of it, by the older (taunted) brother.

Oh, my, there should be a word for the grumpy-sleep-deprived mood on the day after Halloween. I just don’t know what that word is.

Monday-itis, perhaps? That would only work on a Monday, though, of course.

On this mellow Monday night, I’m listening to A.A. Bondy’s live session that he did with Hear Ya a few years ago. Particularly, I love “World Without End”. Of course, y’all probably know how I feel about A.A. Bondy. Anyway, if you want to check it out, click here to listen and get some great mp3s. I have to say that I truly enjoy the live sessions that are recorded at HearYa. They just really know what they are doing. I have 2 different recordings of many of my favorite songs — usually the track that is on the album or cd and then also the HearYa live session version. I always, 100% of the time, like the HearYa version better. So, there you have another plug for my favorite music site on the web.

I hope y’all had a good Monday. Happy November!

Halloween

Halloween

For Halloween we had:
-Ironman, who sang his own theme song (loudly) with his own made up lyrics.
– Spider Man in black, sweet boy decided to be the same thing two years in a row since his mother didn’t get his other costume together.
– Nerd – he played the part very, very well. Another boy who came up with his own costume when his mother didn’t get his together.
– Santa Claus – which, to quote Jon was, “J’s most genius left-field idea, EVER!” That’s saying something, really, because this kid is the king of left field ideas.

Speaking of left field, J is singing a song on his blog today. “Blue Suede Shoes” + sung by Santa + On Halloween= Wacky J in a nutshell.

I hope that y’all had a good one! November, here we are.

Today on Wacktopia

Today on Wacktopia
J sings “Give a Little Whistle”. The funny thing is that J is still learning how to actually whistle and hasn’t quite got it, yet. The singing part is good, though. Here it is:

Here is a link to Wactopia blog.

Hope y’all are having a good Wednesday.

For Your Pumpkin Bread

For Your Pumpkin Bread

It occurred to me that I didn’t include a recipe for the cream cheese concoction that goes so well with the pumpkin bread recipe that I posted a few days ago.

You might want it. My family really likes this one. And, it is good. I typically just go for plain cream cheese but this is super yummy, if you want to go the extra mile.

Orange Cream Cheese Filling
16 oz. cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup powdered sugar
grated peel of 1 orange
2 T. frozen orange juice concentrate

Beat the cream cheese in a mixer bowl until light and fluffy. Add the powdered sugar, orange peel and orange juice concentrate, beating until blended.

Yield: 2 cups.

This is also really good on banana bread.

Now, for another recipe for something pumpkin-y and cream cheese-y, go here and look at the recipe for Pumpkin Creme Pies.

I haven’t made any yet but, yum, y’all! How could they be bad?
Definitely on the “to be attempted” list.

Happy Tuesday, y’all!
