Public Service Announcements

Public Service Announcements

are not really my place, but, I must tell you that they have

these peppers back at Aldi now. I know, you can buy roasted red peppers lots of places. Yes. That’s true. But these are $1.69 a jar and they are wonderful. When I saw that they were back I almost jumped up and down a little. But then, I love peppers and I love a good deal — so I guess that explains it.

Go get some, y’all! After you do, you can make:

these quesadillas,

or this sandwich.

Or you know, you could throw them on a pizza or in a wrap with some hummus, pine nuts and kalamata olives.

Happy Wednesday!

He’s Grumpborn

He’s Grumpborn

So, my oldest, laid-back son, J, has been a little miffed lately. Miffed at the world in general and miffed at people, specifically.

Woe betide you, though, if you tell him, “Hey, dude, please don’t take that grumpy attitude into school with you.”

He said, “I’m not grumpy, I’m just a little stubborn.”

I replied to this by telling him that he was a lot of BOTH at the moment.

But, no, he has a problem with the word grumpy. He suggested, “Maybe we could say that I’m grumpborn?”

Yes. I think that’ll work.

Happy Tuesday and first of March, y’all!

I Love Goodwill

I Love Goodwill

Every week, J and I go to the Goodwill store before volunteering at my 2nd son’s school. J loves it because he gets to look at the books for 30 solid minutes. He also loves that I let him spend $1 on books there every week. I love it because I get to quickly walk around and hit all the high points. I always start at the shoes. I’ve had some great success finding new shoes there. For instance, a few months ago, I found one of my sons a new pair of Keen shoes there. Just a couple of weeks ago I found a barely worn pair of Dansko clogs. They didn’t fit me, but they did fit my friend Annie. Finding things there for friends makes me happy, happy! The other things I always look for: fiesta ware, colored pyrex glass bowls, cast iron, and whatever piece of clothing each of my males is running short on. There is always something that needs to be replaced around here.

So, I don’t really look for myself all that much. I don’t like having extra things, really, I’d rather just wear things repeatedly. Now, you should know that my attitude about not having extra really doesn’t extend to jewelry. I’m a Southern girl, y’all. We like our jewelry…and our china. Anyway, I spied this necklace last week in the case and just had to have it. I liked the leaf motif and the modern sensibility. I also loved the fact that it is sterling.

Most of all, I liked the price. $2. YES!

Happy Monday!

The World Bird Sanctuary

The World Bird Sanctuary

is a great place to spend the afternoon.

We went there today and saw all of the wonderful birds that they have there, along with a wild eagle who was flying above and stressing out the captive eagles. They also have a hilarious talking raven

and a Eurasian Eagle Owl that Jon can always get to hoot for him. The eyes on that owl are so amazing.

I hope that y’all had a good Sunday.
