We are back from our annual trip to the South. It was fun and it was long and it was many other things…..we are glad to be back. It was good to see all of the family. In addition to seeing everyone, my favorite parts of the trip were the food (including delicious Chilton Co. peaches and the best strawberries that I have had in years) and getting away from here (for a short while). Jon did a great job driving us everywhere. The boys were good travelers — for the most part. They had a blast playing with some of their cousins and visiting a war museum in Mississippi. In Alabama, they had a great time going to the children’s museum in Birmingham and going to their first drive-in movie with their maternal grandmother.

Okay, so my guy didn’t win American Idol. He should have won, he is the better singer and performer, but he didn’t. I really didn’t think that he would win — hoped but didn’t expect it. I don’t know how great it would be to win AI as opposed to coming in 2nd. I think that, in the end, it might be better to be second. You end up getting the same amount of media coverage, but aren’t locked into the record deal at the end and could probably negotiate to get a better deal for yourself. That is my take on it.

Well, it will be interesting to see who ends up winning AI tonight. I’m still pulling for Bo, of course. I thought that he made the best of that “Heaven” song that they both had to sing on the show last night. And, I felt especially blessed to watch the show with Jon, who had me laughing by ad-libbing different verses to that song, all of which rhymed with the word heaven. A particularly funny verse had to do with “getting a Big Gulp at the Seven Eleven”. HA. That man — he is a hoot. Okay, I must go and clean my apartment. Have a great day! :)

Update: I think that it will work out for J to attend the camp this summer. Of course, now we are waiting to see if we will qualify for the financial assistance. If we do, the cost of the camp will be do-able for us — and one fifth the price of tuition with no assistance. I really hope that everything will come together and that this will all work out. It will be a blessing to be able to have J learn about social skills and get some OT help while being engaged with other people for 12 hours a week. My summer looks much more manageable with this camp in the picture — even though it will mean a lot of driving for me. What I really wish is that I could continually engage J in life at home…but that is pretty near impossible given my current activities.
