This Made Me Laugh…

This Made Me Laugh…
Yesterday, I saw this bumper stickerin traffic. I know that is not the intended reaction of the designer of the sticker, for a pretty conservative person, like me, to think it is so funny. These folks must not know Volde very well.

Today Was a Monday

Today Was a Monday

I know, I’m really with it to know that today is Monday. Ha. Actually, today was a Monday-ugh. Ever have one of those? So, since I immediately knew that today was a Monday-ugh and that I’m going to get slammed with stuff to do tomorrow (on Tuesday) I decided to take the day off. By 6:45, as I sat on the playroom floor and let the dog out through the door that my 2 year old accidently broke on my head last week, I had decided that today was a mental health day. Now, nobody feel sorry for dear Jonathan, he was not called upon to help me on my day off. And, actually, I did all my usual stuff, sort of. Still changed diapers. Still washed dishes. Still helped with homework. Still returned phone calls. But I just did it because I wanted to instead of the other (wrong) attitude of feeling like I had to do stuff that I sort of didn’t want to do. You know?

I learned a few things on my day off. They are not that interesting, but here you go:
1) I really enjoy finding the to-do lists ofhigh school seniors in the book that I check out from the library. Been there and done those things on that list. Being reminded of stuff you’ve already done is very refreshing. Wahoo.
2) For the thrifty and casual: Old Navy has women’s t-shirts (v-neck and crewneck, longsleeved) on sale for 3 for 20 bucks. And the colors are great, in my opinion.
3) For the thrifty and caffeine needy: McDonald’s will give you a free cup of coffee every Monday this month. So, if you find yourself needing a cup…and it happens to be a Monday in September, then get over there for some.

Fungus Identified and Other Mundane Stuff

Fungus Identified and Other Mundane Stuff
Well, we have identified our fungus. And, no, I didn’t get to name it. Bummer. The identity of our fungus is Tree Bread which, I guess, is a cool enough name. One fellow on the web reported his Tree Bread grows back at the same time each year. So I’m looking forward to that. And, I am grateful to now be more acquainted with the whole fungus world. It is creepily-awesome.

Project Runway last night was good. I am glad that the folks that re-exited and Kayne who bid goodbye for the first time, did so. And, while I’m glad that Laura got to stay, sort-of, I really don’t believe that she should have won. Her dress was fine. Uli’s was a little problematic and Jeffrey’s was a disater — something only Gwen Stefani might wear, and probably not even she would. Only Michael made a completely stunning dress. I don’t know much about this fashion thing, but unless the goal of the project is marketability of a piece, the one that should win is the one that is just the most amazing — design and construction-wise. Michael should have won. Just because Laura deviated from her usual form doesn’t mean that she should win. It seems like a slap in the face to me because he, Michael, has been versatile and ingenious from the beginning. Just my 2 cents.

That is all for now. It has been a good week and I’m beginning to see what my autumn will be like, I think, with the 3 oldest at school and #4 with me all day. One of these days, I’m going to write a little about each of them. They’ve done some hilarious things lately. Also, I’ll probably be reporting about my upcoming projects and about some good food for y’all to try. So, y’all come back, ya hear?

🙂
