Fishing, Etc.

Fishing, Etc.
Here are some photos from our recent fishing trip.

Learning about bait.

Checking out the rod and reel.

Ready, here we….

GO!

Nothing was biting.

But, it was a pretty day.

And, this was a very pretty little river.

Big dead trees are fun to crawl under.

Isn’t this a beautiful sycamore? One of my top five favorite tree types.

Here is the etc. He wasn’t interested in fishing. When it became apparent that we might not catch anything he became quite upset until we told him that not catching fish did not equal having no lunch. Inform him that his caloric intake is secure and all is well in his world.

He’s Always Loved Skin

He’s Always Loved Skin
Well, once again I’m talking about my youngest son and his love for skin. If you missed the other time, look here. They recently finished a unit on skin in his preschool class. He just ate it up. We even took in a recording of the John Lithgow song All You Really Need Is Skin for his class to listen to. So, what he did really shouldn’t have surprised me. But it was still as cute as all get out.

What happened? Well, we were in church and made room on our pew for a teenaged girl to sit with our family. She is African American. During the offertory, he leaned over to her and, patting her hand, said, “Look at all of dat lovely melanin!”

She smiled.

My New Necklace

My New Necklace
Well, unbeknownst to me, my youngest son is a jewelry designer. Last Thursday, he came into the kitchen with some Mardi Gras beads that he instructed me to tie around my neck. But that wasn’t all, oh no. Then he added the pink carabiner to really set the whole thing off. Then he wanted to take a picture.

“Lean over dat way, Mommy. Dat’s a very pretty neck-a-lace!”

He was pleased.

He is such a funny little boy. Last week he also wrote a letter to the Easter Bunny. And lately he has taken to tucking in “babies” with me while I’m sleeping. One morning last week I woke up to find three of these babies with me. The babies were: Fender (the robot), a stuffed rabbit like the one from Pat the Bunny, and a miniature pumpkin that has miraculously survived since October.

What We Caught Yesterday

What We Caught Yesterday
Yesterday we went fishing. We caught no fish. We could see some but they wouldn’t help us out and jump on the hook. We did, however, catch something…..cheetos, anyone?

Have a nice Saturday, everybody!
