Martha on Dave
So, on Friday night, Jon and I were flipping around on the TV and stopped on the David Letterman Show. We don’t usually watch him but Martha Stewart was on there and they looked like they were about to cook something. I was half asleep, at this point, but swiftly came to full out wakefulness when Martha Stewart said something about fried olives. FRIED OLIVES! I thought to myself, “I must have the recipe!!”
So, Dave being the three year old that he is, basically didn’t let Martha cook anything. He told her she looked great, he asked her about her other ex-con friends, and was as rude as all get out. He attempted to make amends by getting her to throw some food on him and then that was the end of the segment. The show went to commercial.
“But, what about the fried olives, y’all?!” was all I could think.
So, I did a little internet scouring yesterday and ended up finding the recipe.
Whew.
I got it from this page.
I can’t wait to try them.
Fried Olives
Get about 2 dozen pitted green olives and soak them in cold water for 15 minutes. This reduces the brininess.
Drain, and pat dry.
Stuff each with 2 ounces of blue cheese.
Put 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour, 1 lightly beaten large egg, and 1/2 cup of plain dried breadcrumbs in 3 separate bowls.
Dredge the olives in the flour, dip in the egg, then dredge in the breadcrumbs.
Refrigerate
heat 2 cups of vegetable oil in a saucepan over medium heat until hot but not smoking hot.
Take a few olives and fry them until golden, about 1 minutes. Repeat until all are done. Transfer onto a paper towel on a plate
Serve warm.
I think that the recipe is also in the February 2011 issue of Martha Stewart Living.
Happy Sunday!
