Wish Granted

Have you ever been riding along on the way somewhere and wished that a certain song would come on the radio?  I know that this isn’t as likely as it once was with 4G and iPod and iPhone and yada, yada, yada.  But for me, in my ancient but loved car with my ancient cell phone that has zero music on it, it is still a wish.  And, when the wish is granted, it makes me very, very happy.

Now, the odds are pretty good that this song will come on the college radio station, since it is in sort of heavy rotation there.

But, still, it was really awesome.

If you are wondering, it was this song by the Avett Bros.

I also like this live version they did for NPR in their tour bus somewhere in New Jersey.

In other news, I’ve got to clear out because our property manager has decided to really try and sell this house that was previously a dump but no longer — because of our efforts.

It felt like home for all of three seconds.

So, the real estate agent and potential buyers are on the way.  Reckon it is a good thing I hung onto my boxes.

Life goes on….changing.  I should heave a sigh here but I’m laughing, instead.  That’s how it is.

Happy Wednesday, y’all!!

  1. The landlord just needed some free repairs. You should not have paid any rent at all. BTW, I love how positive you are about everything! Find a great house. With a fabulous kitchen! That’s a command. 🙂

  2. I have to say that your attitude is nothing if not AMAZING! But boy am I sorry about the situation.

  3. Thanks, Annie and Fittsy! I suppose that we will be searching for someplace new. The good news is that we don’t have to leave until July. But, of course, this being a college town, we have to find something much sooner — probably February. So, we’ll see what is there for us.

  4. Hi Annie,
I know we’ve never met (only through technology as I shared my “Pecan Turtle” cany recipe with you a few Christmases ago) but I want you to know that you really encourage me. Of all the blogs I follow I look forward to yours the most. Thank you for your candor and your playfulness. Thank you for your great attitude. Thank you to you and Jon for your example of a God honoring marriage. Thank you for pointing me back to the essentials of life. I pray for great blessings for your family!

  5. Yikes…that happened to us once when Mark was very young! We had a lease and felt betrayed…but of course God was faithful and will be for you as well! Looking forward to hearing/reading about what lies ahead, and will be praying in the meantime for God’s timely provision.

  6. Hi Jenn,
Thanks so much for your encouraging and complimentary words! I really appreciate you taking the time to write and am so thankful that you enjoy my blog. Also, I’m glad that you reminded me of the pecan turtle candy. It was good and I’m going to look it up again. 🙂

  7. Hi Ruth,
Yes, you summed it up well….we do feel betrayed and used, too, since we cleaned up a basically uninhabitable house. I feel grateful, too, though, since I now know the score and will be looking for another rental or (hopefully) a house to buy here in Starkville. We shall see. You’re right about the way the Lord provides and how we will be looking forward to it. Who knows what he has in store? 🙂

  8. Oh, Annie. Bless your heart! XO
