J’s Question of the Day

J’s Question of the Day
J: (He comes into my room just to ask me, very seriously.) “Mom, can you help make me into an Italian Stallion?”
Me: (Thinking to myself uhhhh…) “No, Honey, I don’t think so.”

Correction: He wants to be the Italian Scallion, not the Italian Stallion. This is no doubt due to a VeggieTale.

Quotable E

Quotable E
I’m cooking dinner. E is prowling around the kitchen. He finds a beer bottle in a box on the floor and turns around to face me. Holding it up in his cute little right hand, he proclaims, “I LUF beer!” Now, where would he have heard someone say something like that? 🙂

Decaf, anyone?

Decaf, anyone?
Attention all in St. Louis who I actually know and see on a regular basis — would you like some decaf coffee? The reason I’m asking is that, on a recent trip to Sam’s, before Jon bought us 25 pounds of coffee and my cool new grinder, I did the enormously insane thing of buying and grinding a huge bag of decaf. Decaf! We don’t drink it. Something got in my way of thinking logically and reading English on that day. Perhaps it was the blonde, blue-eyed little folks that I brought with me? So I have this decaf. Would any of you have use for it? Anyone, anyone? Even if it is just for when you entertain or maybe you’re pregnant and trying to do less caffeine? Free decaf, going once, going twice…..

Hmmmm….What?

Hmmmm….What?
Every schoolday morning, I take all the boys with me and we drop off the two middle boys at school and then the oldest and youngest boys and I either go on an errand or back home. Usually, my oldest is nearly silent during these trips. He always just requests music and/or zones out. But today, he was talking a lot. Maybe it was because I was insisting on listening to my music, instead of his? Probably. So, he kept talking and I turned down my music so that I could hear him and respond to what he was saying. Do you know what he said to me? “Your hair smells like cheese.” For the record, my hair does NOT smell like cheese. But why am I sharing his wacky statement with you? Because he said it in Chinese. CHINESE. Another thing he said in Chinese was, “You give away cows here? What a country!”. This takes not knowing what he is going to say to a whole new level.
