New Soul

New Soul
I literally woke up with a song running through my head this morning. Sometimes I think that memories of music are like memories of things you have seen or smelled or felt. They come without thought.

Have a look and a listen here.

Let the Politics Roll

Let the Politics Roll
So, the other night, I got a call on my phone. I noticed that it was a local number and so I answered. Some lady was calling me….

lady: Just calling to see if you’ll support candidate’s first name in the upcoming primary.
me: Who?
lady: the candidate’s first and last name now campaign.
me: Nope. Sorry. You can’t count on me.

I sort of admired my own restraint here by not throwing in a “never in a million years” statement or something like that.

So then the political lady wished me a good night and I said the same. And then I hung up hoping that she crossed my number off her list.

I haven’t decided all that much about this election….except for who I don’t want to be president. That I’ve got down pat.

Flannel-lined Chinos are Addictive

Flannel-lined Chinos are Addictive
When we went on our Christmas trip this year part of our stay was near a huge outlet mall. Now, for me, this was a perfect situation. We had a place to shop, Christmas money to shop with, and family members who kindly wanted to watch our children. So, duh, off to shop we went. My main mission was to find some pants for myself that required minimal alteration to fit. And, after trying on like a hundred pairs of pants and finally feeling just a little bit of sympathy for What Not To Wear people, I did find several pairs of pants — 7, I think. And, since I was down to like 2 (one of which I promptly pitched in the trash) that was a major score. I wasn’t sure about one of the pairs of chinos. I debated for about a day before going back to get a pair of flannel-lined ones. Well let me tell you that I’m happy that I got them. Lately I’ve been wearing these still-too-big chinos (since my lazy self hasn’t taken in the waist yet) when I drop the boys off at school in this freezing weather. What a lovely thing, lined pants. The only problem is that none of my pants feel properly warm after wearing these.

Being warm is a lovely thing.
