You Never Know What’s Around The Corner….

You Never Know What’s Around The Corner….
at least, if you’re at my house.

Here we have one of the four in an outfit of his own design.

Check out the vest that he borrowed from his brother’s Woody the Cowboy costume. I don’t know which scares me more, the high heels on the boots that he walked up the stairs in (made even more precarious by the fact that his feet are way too big for my boots) or the choice of a hammer to accent the whole look.

And then, of course, little brother had to get in on the fun.

Never a dull moment. I live with entertaining people.

Sunday Night Conversation

Sunday Night Conversation
So, on Sunday nights, we sometimes eat in shifts. This is because the preparer of our food (me) sometimes doesn’t have it together on Sunday nights. I don’t know why I’m afflicted with the scatterbrains on Sundays, but, well, I am. So, last night Jon and I ate together after the boys were finished.

Jon: Hey, you haven’t worn that bracelet in a long time.

Me: I know, I just thought that it’d go with the other things I had on today. I think that it’s a really old bracelet. Mrs. S gave it to me since she didn’t have any daughters and it was given to Mrs. S when she was a teenager by another lady who didn’t have any daughters.

Jon: Well, it is an interesting bracelet, anyway…

Me: I guess that I’ll have to find a girl to give it to someday, since we don’t have any daughters.

Jon: Well, maybe you can give it to one of our daughters-in-law.

We both turned to look at our *interesting* boys.

Me: Hmmm, well, IF I ever have a daughter-in-law, well, I guess that I could give it to her.

Jon: Yeah, (he paused to throw one more look at our offspring) well, I don’t know, it might clash with her halo.

True, that.

SYTYCD: It’s Over

SYTYCD: It’s Over
Well, another season of So You Think You Can Dance ended last night. And, I think that Joshua totally deserved to win. Katee was also really strong all season long. I really liked all of her performances.

I have to say that I really, really was sort of hoping that Twitch would win. He seems like such a super nice guy and I always LOVED watching his solos. What a performer. He definitely has a real future not only as a dancer but as a choreographer, also. I think that they should give a monetary award to the top 3 finishers, at least, instead of just the top girl and top guy. And, of course, coming in second means that you don’t get the airtime that 4th and 3rd finishers get — so that sort of stinks as well. Can you tell that I’m a Twitch fan? But I am really happy for Joshua — he’s brilliant and evidently a really hard worker and great performer.

Y’all should check out this link to a site that reviews/ranks the top 15 dances on SYTYCD from all four years.

And, now, boo hoo, the season is over until next summer. Oh well.

My Today

My Today
Today someone turned the thermostat to 80
It wasn’t me
At 5 p.m. we were roasting

Today someone turned the fridge to an 8
It wasn’t me
We ate pickles from the arctic on our hamburgers

Today my middle two sparred all day
I should have done something
But I didn’t know what to do

Today my youngest told a man to watch out
That the butterflies might bite him
He smilingly called the man old and we kept walking

Today I have to finish a child-rearing book
It is due at the library
The dog chewed the corner

Roasting and
arctic pickles and
sparring and
butterflies and smiles and
the dog chewing.
That about sums it up.
Today.
