{"id":1395,"date":"2011-08-14T04:44:36","date_gmt":"2011-08-14T04:44:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.annbarlow.com\/?p=1395"},"modified":"2011-08-14T04:44:36","modified_gmt":"2011-08-14T04:44:36","slug":"and-the-answer-is","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.annbarlow.com\/?p=1395","title":{"rendered":"And The Answer Is&#8230;."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>b. \u00a0girl with a boy\u2019s name who was the size of a dwarf. \u00a0Can I have Coke when I get home?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So, those of y&#8217;all that guessed B, well, congrats! \u00a0You were right.<\/p>\n<p>J informed us about this helper when we were all in the van on the way to church on Thursday night. \u00a0What a hoot, I tell you, he frequently makes his entire family laugh with his hilarious observations.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the thing that makes it alright for us to laugh is because with J,as with many other folks with autism, these comments and observations are not ever mean-spirited. \u00a0This is one of the things that is so great about him. \u00a0He tells the truth and there is just no desire to do anything other than communicate the information. \u00a0Never irony. \u00a0Never unkindness. Never ever sarcasm. \u00a0Now, the truth isn&#8217;t always welcome. \u00a0For instance, he has been known to tell me, &#8220;Mom, you look really tired.&#8221; \u00a0Or, my absolute favorite, when he sympathetically says, &#8220;Mom, it looks like you ate too many hot dogs.&#8221; \u00a0Yep.
