Our Day on the Creek

Our Day on the Creek
When we were last in Alabama, we enjoyed a long happy day on a creek near my parents house. Now, I don’t know what you envision when I say the word creek, but this is what we saw that day.

More river than creek in my opinion, but what do I know?

We were joined that day by my sister, her husband and my little nephew.

Aren’t they a nice looking family? Lovely people to be related to. Incidentally, my nephew will probably be prompted very soon to quite a bit of communication when, I’m sure, he will tell me to please quit calling him Neffy-poo. I can’t really blame him. But until then, I’m going to keep doing it.

My mom, Susie-Q, the intrepid grandmother known as Mama Susie, was there to have fun as well. Thanks to her, we were watered and well fed. Also, she manned the pier while parents went riding on the Seadoo.
Here she is talking to Neffy-poo.

And, here are the necessary pictures of some of my bunch….
This is one who defeated his fear of creek water and had a blast floating around.

Here is the industrious one. He swam, did cannonballs off the pier and paddled all over the place picking up the pieces of noodle that older brother shredded — they were everywhere.

Speaking of the oldest (the one who shredded the noodle), I don’t have a decent picture of him. Maybe it’s because he had his face in the water 90 percent of our time there. I truly believe that he would still be floating on the creek right now if I hadn’t made him get out.

Finally, we have this little buster here.

He mainly wanted to boss me on the paddle boat and hang out on the pier drinking lemonade doled out to him by Mama Susie. Unlike his older brother, he didn’t overcome his fear of the creek water, so he had lots of pictures taken of him, instead.

I think that he’s a handsome little large headed child, but we all know that I’m partial. Anyway, he eventually grew tired of the photo shoot and then I got this:

And then he wanted to take pictures of me. Yick. Oh well, here’s one…scroll past fast and don’t look too close.

A gazillion billion freckles. I need to find a good hat.

Then I took the camera away because we didn’t need anything else like that. Being the photographer has its perks because there are few pictures of yourself or your slip-ups…..(like evidence of the crashing of a Seadoo.)

You can tell that they played hard.

That was our day on the creek. Fun, fun, FUN. Now, if I could just arrange to float on a creek for all of next summer……
