I’m making red beans and rice for dinner tonight. I hope that the boys eat it. Maybe they will, maybe they won’t. Some of them liked the Italian sausage with peppers and polenta that I made last night. Jon liked it. I don’t know whether I liked it or not…my sinuses are all messed up and I can’t smell (or taste) anything right now. To add to that, I also don’t have much of a voice today. So Annie isn’t doing so well. Today, I’m also making a spice cake for Miss Liz’s birthday. I’m going to frost it with caramel frosting and it also has a blackberry jam layer, too. Hope that she likes it. Y’all take care and have a good day. I’ve got to get going around here.

  1. Jon liked the red beans and rice and N did also. I still couldn’t smell so I didn’t taste much….but the texture was good and it was filling. I did taste the Tabasco. Maybe my sense of taste is coming back after all. I really like feeding my family 2 dinners for a dollar and fifty cents per dinner. So we’ll be having this again. 🙂

  2. I made a big batch of Red Beans and Rice about two weeks ago. Ate it in honor of all the displaces LA and MS people who mark their Mondays w/ RB&R.

  3. I used your recipe, TulipGirl. It was good…my tastebuds were back last night so I could actually taste it. I pureed half of it in the blender and then added it back to the beans to thicken them. Have you ever done that? I may have used too much water, initially, though. It was a good first try, anyway. 🙂
