Well, I got most of my spring break goals accomplished. Still have to go through the clothes and gather stuff for the rummage sale. Still have to get Easter duds. Still have to paint my bathroom. Still have to help my neighbor shop for a rocker recliner. Still have lots of cooking to do. But all of that is fun stuff. I saved the fun stuff for last. Funny things the five year old has done lately: This is the boy who draws dozens of drawings in a sitting. He does the sound effects that go along with what he is drawing, too. For instance, the other day, he was drawing a series of pictures of a dog chasing a cat. In each drawing, the dog was getting closer and closer to the cat, the cat was getting more terrified, and the dog’s jaws and teeth were getting bigger and bigger. The whole time he was drawing the pictures, he was growling and doing the dialogue of the animals. The last picture in the series was just an up-close shot of the dog’s open mouth complete with the “swallow hole” — as he calls it. I thought that I wouldn’t be able to contain myself…that growling was hilarious. Then, the other day, the boys were watching “The Incredibles” with us. In the scene when Helen is flying the plane, I said something like, “Wow, don’t they have a cool Mom? She can fly a jet.” My 5 year old responded by saying (like it was nothing special), “Oh, you could do that.” I’m glad that he thinks so. He looked up from his drawing one day to say, “Mom, we need more caple.” What? “Son, could you say that again, I didn’t understand you.” C, again, “Mom, we need to get more caple. We don’t have enough. You know, Miss Liz has lots and LOTS of caple.” I said, “Oh, you mean cable. Like cable TV? Right?” He replied, “Uh-huh.” That boy.
