My baby wanted to eat his finger food with a fork today. He is so determined — determined but sweet. He was so happy to try feeding himself with a fork. Cute. He is also in the habit of pointing to something with the hopes that someone will tell him what he is pointing at. So, at lunch today, I was eating an apple and he pointed to it. “Apple,” I told him, and he said “abbl”. He is growing up so fast and learning so much. I had sort of forgotten what this stage of babyhood is like.

My dear neighbor, Miss Liz, is so good to us. Today, she came back from the store bearing a quiche, a carton of blackberries and 2 boxes of shortbread for us. She is too nice. I think that I’m going to go try some of the blackberries now.

Meanwhile, I think that I’m going crazy. Today, I was on my way to get our 3rd son from pre-k when I realized that I had missed the exit. (Keep in mind that I drive this route many times a day, many days a year.) Not only had I missed the exit, but I found myself lost in thought — about nothing in particular — when I suddenly started wondering…where am I supposed to be going???? Crazy. But do you know the craziest thing of all? I don’t want any chocolate today. How crazy is that? I am a chocolate hog. I think that this is the first day in my life that I haven’t cared whether or not I got a little bite of chocolate to eat. I mean, forgetting where you are going in a car is one thing…but not wanting any chocolate…that is really serious. Oh well. I’m sure that I’m on my way to the looney bin. Y’all can all say that you knew me when.

Have a great weekend.
