Today, I was looking at a couple of Mardi Gras mix tapes that some folks had posted online, and this song popped up on one of them.

It’s Keely Smith and Louis Prima doing Birth of the Blues. Not a song that I would naturally identify as being related to Mardi Gras, but a great one to know about, anyway.

Her voice is spectacular.

I love his trumpet playing.

It’s a good one to remember!
