I’ve got other news today…..

First off, my sister had a baby yesterday. So, HOORAY for that! He has precious, luscious baby cheeks and it is a tragedy that he is so far away because I would love to give him a smooch. I guess that’ll have to wait. My oldest son wanted the baby to be named Saint Nicolas, as I’m sure that some of you will remember. He’s still protesting about the name and has suggested that he might use St. Nick as the baby’s nickname. I shot that down. The baby has another boy who wanted in on the naming, my new little nephew’s older brother who thinks that the baby should be christened Cheezy Lassie and, in fact, has called the baby that for many months. Reckon these boys are just going to deal with the fact that their names didn’t get picked. Ah well….

Secondly, I WON something. I can’t believe it. Now I can no longer say that I don’t win anything. Earlier this week, hear ya, the best indie music site on the web, posted that they would be giving away the new album from the Black Keys. So, I emailed them that I’d like to participate in the giveaway. And, then, like a doofus, I remembered that I hadn’t included my mailing address. So I sent another email and basically said that I knew that I wasn’t going to win but that I’d hit them with my address just in case. Then I won. How awesome is that? I’ve never really heard any Black Keys music, but the album is getting some great reviews, and so I’m eagerly awaiting its arrival. One interesting fact: much of the album was done at Muscle Shoals Sound. How cool is that for this Alabama girl?

Okay, one more graduation picture and then I promise I won’t do any more. Jon’s getting his Ph.D. was like a planet we were revolving around for so long that I sort of feel like a tether has been cut. I’m certain that we’ll get used to it.
