I knew that being a parent would be a learning experience. I guess that I just really underestimated the extent to which this learning would reach. For instance, I recently learned that aluminum sometimes doesn’t show up on x-rays. And, I learned that even stuff with rough edges mostly comes through the GI tract with no damage being done to the person who ingested the thing with the rough edges. So very interesting. I am also learning how much intuition that I have accumulated as a mother. I knew by the look on his face that he had swallowed the pop top on that can. I knew it even when it didn’t show up on the x-ray. I knew it. I knew it. I knew it. That baby…….

My baby is a hoot. And I guess that he is not so much a baby as he is a little boy toddler now. His talking is so funny. Now, when you ask him a question, he either disagrees with an emphatic, “No,” (along with shaking his head) or a (and I wish that I could record this because it is hilarious), “Awh-huh”. It is so funny. He did it today for Miss Liz and she actually bent over double laughing. Now he also says, “Ah wuv ooo!”, and then gives himself applause for saying, “I love you”, so well. Then, later today, he amused himself by saying, “Go!!!”, and then laughing really hard, over and over again, after he heard me yelling at a driver that had slammed on his brakes in front of me. That boy. He is a delight.
